Meeting of the Heads of the educational centres in the Province of Europe

The first meeting of the Heads of the educational centres in the Province of Europe and the Education Committee was held on the 22 and 23 January 2016 at the Missions étrangères in Paris. The aim of the meeting was to evaluate the current performance of the European Marist Network, its aims and objectives, its way of working and its scope for action.ob_7e9ad7_2016-01-22-08-32-17
On the Thursday, three fascinating presentations from three different countries given by Frank Dixon (Blackburn), Marie-Annick Benoit (Bury-Rosaire) and Roland Feucht (Fürstenzell) in order to answer the question 'If a stranger visited your school, how, after a fortnight, would he know that it is a Marist school?' stimulated very fruitful discussions about Marist ethos.
The following day we adopted a language policy, the principal aim of which is to enable everyone to take part in the activities of the Network, and, after an audit of these activities, we formulated some proposals for the future (more information on those in due course).
Marie Portelli, Moderator of the association Maristes en éducation, and Régis Cleyet-Merle (Externat Saint-Joseph) spoke about the work of the association and of the commitment of its members in order to formulate a possible way of 'ensuring sustainability of the Marist educational tradition'.
A very big thank you to the members of the Maristes en éducation team at Bury-Rosaire who prepared the beautiful liturgy for our Mass celebrated by Fr Hubert Bonnet-Eymard sm, the Provincial Superior, and also to Fr Pascal Boidin sm, who led us in prayer in five different languages in order to celebrate the linguistic diversity of our Network.
In addition, we were able to watch a preview of Sherlock et le dossier "Maristes", a play about the history of the Marists specially commissioned by the French region.
Two days of meetings, of collegiality, and of conviviality. And especially the joy of being together.
