The Annual Marist Soccer Competition took place at Oriel Park, Dundalk on Friday 16th January 2015. It was the seventh year that staff from the Catholic University School, Chanel College and St. Mary's College, Dundalk, competed at this enjoyable event. The soccer proved to be of a very high standard throughout the qualifying stages. This then led to the final involving the CUS team and the 'Barbarians' team, which was a combination of Chanel College and St. Mary's staff. From start to finish, each player fought for every ball. It eventually came down to the boot of Nigel Conway from CUS to finish things. He scored the winning goal to make it 5-4 to CUS and crown them the Marist Soccer Competition winners 2015. The player of the tournament award went to Chanel College staff member Philip Ardiff who showed skill, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the event. A big thanks is extended to Kevin Jennings and the Marist Education Authority who once again organised this wonderful event for the staff of the three Irish Marist schools. Alan Craven from St. Mary's Dundalk and Philip Ardiff from Chanel College were also fantastic in helping to organise this competition. It is the one event on the school calendar that all staff really look forward to. An opportunity to compete, socialise and develop further links between the three Marist schools. Plans are already being made for 2016!! Andrew Blanch Catholic University School
